I have a 2014 Fleetwood Discovery 40E and I was if anyone has upgraded from lead acid batteries to lithium batteries if so did you have to upgrade your inverter as I have the magnum

I upgraded batteries without upgrading the inverter, which is a Xantrex 2000.

Eager to learn more about this also. The only thing that I could find is that the controller should be changed/upgraded to their latest model ME-RC-L It will allow a custom charging profile. I've attached a link.Magnum Controller ME-RC-L

I have the 2812. All I had to do was add a Li-Bim to protect the alternator and I was able to buy a used ARC-50 to replace the Me-RC-50. That will depend on the versions of the inverter and the controller. I also added a battery monitor kit, but I think you can operate without it.

Adding the Li-BIM was a good note. Thanks.

Hi Richard, I upgraded to the ME-RC-L controller thinking it would give me custom control. It didn't. On the current controller push the tech button and turn to versions. My inverter version 3.6 got me nothing.

BIMis critical. Make sure your inverter has a Li setting. They charge differently. SES in Nappanee did mine. Go to someone who isreputable and specializes in solar and Li. They should know all of the components that need to be changed. With Li you need to protect your alternator.

Roger that. I found since I wrote the original post....that there is nothing I can do to upgrade my inverter. Sad.

Upgrading inverter/converter for lithium is not always necessary. Before I changed house batteries, I phoned both Xantrex and Battleborn to ask about my Freedom 458 compatibility with BB LiFePO4 and was told to add a BIM (see attached) to protect the alternator and change battery profile settings to AGM. I've had zero issues in three years.
