Hey all! We are tent campers and are planning a trip to Yellowstone and are looking to try out a trailer. From what I can find, the only way to do that is via Enterprise Truck Rental as no other businesses allow towing. Our thinking is we need a separate car and trailer to be able to get around the parks. I'd love some expert opinions. We are flying in so we have to rent. We are a family of 4 and while we don't need a lot of space we do need more than a camper van for sleeping.

An insurance broker I know spoke about flying to Arizona and renting a Class C. She said they loved it, of course you are breaking camp when you travel. I think they would be at a destination a day or so and go. How long will your trip be?

There may be campgrounds that have travel trailers set up, and just rent a car.
If you looking to move the RV during the trip every couple of days would be great. We have never done this. You have the company you can rent the truck and tow so that’s the toughest part I would think. Good luck and enjoy.

As above, depending on your traveling when you get there, you may be able to have something setup.

We went to South Dakota before we had an RV. Rented a 5th wheel that was setup for us at the campground. We just showed up, used it for two weeks, then left when the trip was over.

If not traveling to other campgrounds that may be an option - the you just need a rental car.

There are companies that facilitate renting privately owned RVs. It appears that some would allow you to tow it around the country. You may have to equip your tow vehicle with a receiver, brake controller and more. Here is a link for you to check out. Campers, Motorhomes & RVs for Rent | Outdoorsy

Good luck and safe travels.

I looked at a couple places that rent travel trailers before we bought ours and I thought they would also rent trucks. Might be a one stop shop option.

If not trying to do it very frugally and you have at least two drivers, one could also rent both a motorhome and a car.
