Trying to get started

We are new at RVing and are looking at our first motorhome. We are retired 2 adults and 2 dogs and are looking at options. We are considering a 2004 gulfstream bt touring with 63,000 miles. We are in FL and would like to travel the country. Any help/opions/advice would be greatly appreciated.Thank you

Welcome aboard. You don't say if you will be full timing so I suspect not, however, you do mention touring the country. I suggest that you make sure you are going to be comfortable and that the floor plan is what you want. You don't say how big your dogs are. Will you be traveling for more than a month at a time? Do you plan to do any boon docking? I don't think the year, make, model and milage are really that important but no matter what you intend to purchase, I would have it professionally inspected. You don't want an unwelcome surprise when you are on the road.

Have you tried renting a MH to see if you like it? Unlike a trailer you have more options to try first. Will you be pulling a toad behind it?

Welcome to the forum, glad you joined us.
All great advice so far, inspection by a professional before purchase is almost a must unless you have a lot of experience and are able to exercise all systems before buying.

Floor plan and living area are extremely important. It rains, sometimes for a few days in a row, and it's important you can live comfortably in those conditions.

Your travel style is another thing to consider, as mentioned by others it makes a difference if you boon dock frequently or are primarily pedestal princesses. Neither one is right or wrong or better than the other, just very differrent, and your RV must accommodate the style you prefer.

TY. Tried replying 2x not sure where it went. We want to be flexible 1-2 months part time to start, some campgrounds some boon-docking. The dogs are adult and are 45 lbs. We are not comfortable driving a large vehicle and wanted to stay under 25’, and we were not initially planning on a tow vehicle.

We have done some test drives, but have not camped since our tent and pop up days. But will consider renting

My opinion only since you asked: I strongly suspect that your choice is not one that you can comfortably use for a month long excursion with two large dogs. It has very limited storage and very limited living space. Should you encounter any inclement weather, you and your pups will have to share that space. If you have done your homework and can make it work for you then really, that's all that matters but I would suggest that you gather all clothing, pots and pans, dishes, utensils, dog food, foot wear, out door gear such as chairs etc in an area the size of your living space and imagine where in that motor home you will put it all. If you can make it work, good on you.
