Let me further explain... If you open Claude Desktop there is a model selector on the bottom right. Different models are available depending on the paid tier you're on vs free, etc. There is also a level of effort you can choose which equates to cost as well, using up your allowed quota before having to wait for a reset. I'm on the Claude Max (200/mo) plan as this is used for all day coding.

Absolutely need human oversight, however, the human must have at least enough knowledge to smell out the BS as the models are very convincing when they provide answers and one can be easily led astray. Validation between models, and asking for citations that prove the answers are valuable techniques.

These are my top tips, based on my experience with Ai:
1) Treat AI like you would an intern. It is smart, it was given training/education. But it doesn’t have the wisdom that comes from experience. You need to tell it what you want, what you don’t want, and errors to avoid
2) If you care about results for summarized search, always tell it to provide sources for each and every point. This avoids the BS or hallucinations.
3) As Neal said, take time to know each model available on your platform of choice. They each have pros and cons. Ask the AI to explain the differences, strengths and weaknesses - along with some examples of the types of prompts that would best be used for each. This is like learning employees, you need to know each team member to know to delegate to them.
4) Ask each AI engine to not just explain each model within the platform, but as mentioned earlier, ask each to explain how this platform ranks compared to other platforms.
5) Ask AI how to best prompt or guide it. Don’t just assume.
6) Every month or so, ask it it to summarize for you the new capabilities and improvements it offers since a month ago.
7) if getting to an answer took more iterations that it seems like it should - ask it how this process could have been shortened. What could I do differently and what can it learn for next time?

And with that, you're still using AI as google backs its search with AI now. For most, just install one or several of the AI apps and just use it as a search and/or discussion tool. Keep it simple, check it out, you'll be amazed. If you want to dig in and learn more, it's available but like any software, they are designed to just be used.
