Question Diesel prices April 2026 edition

Kalispell MT Costco was $5.85 yesterday. Surrounding area stations were $6.10. We're headed west soon where prices are over $7.00 in Washington..... ouch!

Washington has always had high gas prices, it's just part of their tax system. Going to Yakima a few times it was surprising how expensive their auto gas was compared to back home in VA. Normal ops for them sadly.

I have to chuckle at seeing one individual stridently police the slightest pondering of, or any speech here about, observed perterbations of fuel pricing. (Not Neal)..

Everyone expects that a hardware store with flashlights in stock well ahead of a hurricane is always accused of price gouging if the price goes up as the hurricane approaches.

But there is no such criticism for the suburban filling station with already bought and delivered fuel stored underground. The price jump of 50 cents seen near my home last weekend as new international events unfolded nets 500 bux bonus for every thousand gallons yet unsold. (Price to resupply the station later is covered by the subsequent sales, so the jump of price on news is not due to resupply mathematics at all.)

But we can't post about any of it. No, no!

I alwsys gain perpective when reading Kevin's comments offered here. In another post, Kevin said something that also applies nicely here, if one was paying attention and "gets it".

The last time we were out was June and I stored it at about 60% full thinking surely prices will go down. As soon as the heat dome here in Texas breaks for the two days of fall we'll go somewhere local, but will have to suck it up and pay for $3.50 or $4.00 gas.

Same with me. Came home with the new coach and had 2/5ths of a tank. Figured I would fill up as prices would go down. I paid 3.93 in June and $5.41 when I left on this trip. Then last I paid $6. I will not be filling again until I start to head home in a week
