2 pumps in less than 2 years?

After about a year of full timing, we started having issues with our water pump. Basically, the water pump’s positive 12v male spade terminal was compromised and if we hit just the right number of bumps in just the right way, we’d arrive at our destination and the pump wouldn’t turn on. We’d have to go and wiggle the wire connected to the terminal until we got the pump to turn on.

That worked for a few weeks but then one day while wiggling the wire, the water pump’s male spade snapped off. I sucked it up and went and bought another water pump.

Today, we came home from exploring and found that the water wasn’t working. Went to check the water pump and all seemed fine. Checked and replaced the fuse, made sure it was getting power and the right amount, checked the water tank level, adjusted the pressure switch…it just won’t start.

i can hear a very very faint crackling sound coming from it when I give it power. It sounds a bit like an AM radio trying to pick up a signal and it is very faint and this can only be heard when the pump gets power.

any ideas?

Is this a Shurflo water pump with a pressure switch? I had the pressure switch on mine go bad during the first year. The male spade on the pressure switch went bad and I had to jiggle it to get the pump to work.

If it’s the Shurflo with the pressure switch, try bypassing the pressure switch. If this is your problem, I would purchase a variable speed pump as a replacement. It doesn’t have a pressure switch that constantly engages/disengages.

It is a SureFlo with a pressure switch. I will give that a try

Treat yourself to a Remco, I have the AES but if I got a new one I'd go for the ARV. AES is 3.4 gpm, ARV is 5 gpm.

Reviews are showing that the pump is too powerful for RV plumbing - cut off is 100-140 psi.

I use the Remco AES, not sure which one @redbaron is using. I suggest reach out to Remco, I don't think that sounds right. Stats show 65 psi

I have the Remco 55AQUAJET-ARV. I have had no issues with respect to excessive water pressure. I highly recommend the pump. Variable speed pump is so much better than the Shurflo with the pressure switch.

It seems that the reviews at the bottom of the link you originally posted started reviewing Aquajet pumps and then switched to Aquatec pumps (some reviews have both in the review) - the Aquatec pumps are the ones that are too strong.

No, it's still four "bolts" and you can place the pump wherever you want. The holes may (likely won't) align with the other screws which are the typical self-tapping setup.
