Splendide Dryer not drying well. Took me a Looonnng time to figure it out but this is a fix that Splendide won't reveal. Theres an eco-stat temp sensor in the front of the dryer that's set at 40 degrees Celsius (104 deg. F) and after 10 minutes at 176 degrees , once the dryer hits that temp. it drops into economy mode at stays at 104 degrees F for the remainder of the cycle. I found that if I changed the 40 deg. C to a 80 Deg.C it kept the temp at 176 deg F for the full cycle and dried the clothes extremely fast. BTW I checked with a splendide tech and he confirmed it works but can't recommend it "on the record". You will be amazed how well it dries. The tech number for Splendide is 503-655-2563 and ask for an 80 deg C to replace the eco-stat 40 Deg. C. You need to pull the left side of the dryer off and theres 2 stats up front in the exhaust tubing, pull the Eco one and replace with the 80 deg C. I believe the eco stat has a blue paint dot on it, and its the one closest to the left side.
Good luck!

This is a plan, but everything has good side and bad side. Faster drying of clothes, but hotter temps, which can cook some fabrics and ruin them. But the big concern I have it the higher temps, and most folks do not blow out the dryer exhaust piping and get the lint out. It builds up, eventually plugging up the pipe and can and do occasionally cause a fire. So, if you do the above, at least quarterly, blow out the dryer exhaust piping keeping it as open as possible. I personally never had issues with drying times in the dryer, so it takes a little longer, that in long run is the safer option.

Sort of It's also like putting an external surge protector on the pedestal, and then plugging in the coach, the one on the pedestal will be the sacrificial lamb, saving the built in one in the RV. As noted in above, "do this at your own risk". Safe travels to all.

Good reply but you missed a few important points.
1. When you disassemble dryer to change temp stat you can thoroughly vacuum out ALL the lint, no issues here. I pulled my dryer that has never been cleaned in 6 years and there was minimal lint.
2. Theres a 1 time burn/ fail test switch set at 210 ° F and when high temperature is breached the switch fails and heat elements go dead and the drum and fan run for 10 minutes cooling down the unit. EVERY dryer has them.
3. As for the "too high temp" damaging clothes, this dryer has a low temp setting also which can be set for the same effect as new. My wife's issue is she hates wasting time (150-170 ) minutes drying towels when she can dry them in 70 minutes. Your choice. Time is money my friend! Good luck!

Hmmm, safety devices fail, and in today's world, with quality taking a back seat to quantity, I would not bet my life or my loved one's lives on those devices to work as planned, that they should is not the question. We sold our RV, we loved the Splendide units much better than the Kenmore stacked unit in our first coach, and the disaster of the whirlpool units some fellow owners have to deal with. Your comments are correct, but I can take a nice walk around the park, and once done, my clothes are as well.

As example, you can get a chip, which plugs into the diagnostic port on many RV's and Diesel Trucks, which modifies the computer and gives you way more engine HP and Torque, but I personally would not do it. Why?
First, the computer tracks and stores all updates/modifications to it, from any source, and if you take vehicle to dealer complaining of issues, they run the diagnostics download all the history on the computer. Once they see you have plugged in that "chip" they void your warranty and can refuse to work on it in the future, you have illegally modified their programing. I choose to live with maybe less HP/Torque but have the 150K warranty and the time limit on my side, others choose to not do so. Maybe you won't need service, and maybe you will, life at best is a crap shoot, and I generally never win playing craps.

As ASIDE, I have seen reports of shortages of DEF here on this forum, and on other news sources. I cannot tell you if that is true, but yesterday, Home Depot in NE GA has a ton of the blue brand for 16 dollars for 2.5 gallons. My friend in TX says, he has no trouble finding it regardless of where he travels, so I am not sure the "rumors are true".
I sure am glad we sold ours, because 5.49 locally for Diesel, and well over 7.00 gallon out west would kill any and all enjoyment we used to have. The death spiral of RV industry is fast approaching, so I can maybe get my quality used airstream trailer for short local excursions cheap, as soon, prices on all RV's are going to crash. Just like in 08-11.
