Yup. Try to stay away fromareas known for them critters.Wait…what?
Born and raised east of the Mississippi River - never heard of a snake bite kit. Over the past couple months we have traversed across Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada and Oregon.
Happy to report that my ignorance of rattlesnake geography did not result in any bites.
Like AbdRahim said, need to spend more time educating myself so we stay safe.
I think I would be getting the gun out.I'm more afraid about our dog. We have the Pygmy rattler that are very hard to see in the grass. Daisy is dumb enough to go and try to sniff or play with it. All it takes one bite, and she will be goner. That snake was just against our living room wall.

I was gonna say I wear my White's high lace boots. No snake kit here.definitely worth having one in the coach. I actually take my snake boots with me because I cannot hear the rattle when I am in an area where there’s a high probability of poisonous snakes.
I use a shovel.I think I would be getting the gun out.
you got a little Forest Service history?I was gonna say I wear my White's high lace boots. No snake kit here.
I once employed a local, well local, named Thaddeus who worked for me from time to time, to eradicate some snakes after one of my German Shepherds got bit near the house. I told him I’d pay him $20 each for any rattle snakes found within 200’ of the house. He came back about an hour later holding three good sized rattle snakes, alive and well. He was quite proud of himself, excited about having three more rattlers (I didn’t ask what he did with them), but got a little concerned when he had to figure out how to accept the $60 without letting go of any of the snakes. It was an interesting experience, but not exactly the expected outcome and I didn’t ask him to do it again.Hmmm...I call our neighbor kid to relocate Gopher Snakes...Rattle Snakes ? Well, I'm afraid they would either need to slither way quickly on their own or become shoe leather. Not a fan!![]()
No! An ounce of prevention! I'm hard on shoes, so I get what holds up. I used to wear jumpers boots till I found these.you got a little Forest Service history?
