The one in the kitchen is about 10 inches from a wall at end of island opposite end from sink and the upstairs is between bathroom and outer wall.
I guess my next step will be to disconnect the under belly and start feeling around. Thanks for the response.
By replacing your startup capacitor with its much smarter electronics it lowers the amount of AC current required to start your air conditioner or heatpump by up to 60% to even 75%. So, let's say you are plugged into a 15 or 20 Amp circuit while moochdocking, you might be able to run one of...
Just ask this question with no details. 2014 Dynamax Dynastar 32XL. Installed lithium batteries and solar. Softstart on AC units. Would like to run unit while traveling from invertor. How is the best way to put AC Units on invertor circuit. They are only on shore and generator power currently.
...get an adapter (below) to run all the small stuff, but you wont be able to run an AC. You might be able to run an AC if you install a “softstart” kit (second pic) on it. I don't have any experience with these but others here seem to have had good results. I’d post another question such as...
RV been sitting this summer, so I was checking both roof AC units. Front one was fine, but rear unit wouldn’t start—only hummed. Last summer I had replaced the caps and installed a soft-start cap, and it was running fine. So up on the roof I went to investigate, thinking maybe a new cap failed...
Your AC might require less to start, might be smaller unit, or could have a softstart processor already in it, and might be newer then mine. Glad yours works, 3000 is your running watts most likely, not your surge watts.
...amps (1620 watts) according to my ampmeter. So 20 Amps should be sufficient. I took the measurements a while back when I was considering what size generator to buy. I have been thinking of buying a softstart kit, but since I went with a larger inverter generator I may not worry about it now.
...With 2ea 31 group batteries the solar takes care of everything and we never had to worry about the fridg, never even got close to needing the generator for anything except microwave. AND, the 18000 but AC won't even make the little 2000 Honda come off eco mode with the softstart, amazing!
...to the Invertor. Not wiring the Cook Top into the invertor, of course, make perfect sense:)
In the last rig we did wire in the front AC to the invertor with the addition of a SoftStart. Not having the cooktop wired in to the invertor circuits will really put a crimp in the boondocking...
...be able to get the second one started but most of the time you'll kick the breaker trying to start it. This is why some people buy the "soft start" kit for the A/C units. It keeps them from spiking the amps during the start so they can get by on 30 amps to run both A/C units. Without the...
...Westinghouse from Walmart. It has a remote start feature and is quiet. However, it will not start my AC unit consistently so I am adding a softstart device. It is to much for me to pick up and put on my truck but I would not go smaller unless you get units that can be paralleled. Depends...
After all that happened, I installed SoftStart on two of the most used AC’s.
Tightening the lugs in the transfer box should be done once in a while.
Also the AC breakers panel. I neglected it, and melted part of the panel $$$
We run our generator to utilize the roof mount AC when needed. We close the doors between the front living area and the bathroom as well as the doors between the bathroom and the bedroom. We do this whenever we travel whether or not we are using the house AC. This is a huge help to control...
Rich is correct a Mundo. You will need very large battery and solar capacity . I believe in your case no Bueno. You can’t run an AC unit on batteries and or solar. The elect kick over which require too much power so only the generator or shore power can handled that quick demand needed. . I’ve...
...generators are notorious for being over-rated. And, some ACs have been known to draw more than their rated power on startup. Using the softstart device will significantly reduce your startup (surge) current (Wattage). It does little to nothing to reduce running Wattage.
If I was looking...
The interest rates, coupled with the increase in campground fees and fuel costs will definitely continue to create a pinch on demand.
On the other thread about campgrounds changing, once campgrounds start investing capital into the “needed” upgrades, assuming they use leverage, their fees will...
