...vendors go to Victron as it's obviously on the leading edge but companies tend to buy cheap wholesale outdated tech vs. latest and greatest. Hope that changes. Anyways, back to the content...I believe this feature is what I would call a built in softstart within the inverter.

Education needed! What does "soft start" mean & what does it actually do? Maybe gradually increase the current flow at start up?
What are the benefits, other than what TJ just mentioned?
I start thinking if you feel it is soft on the ride a sway bar is in order. Soft meaning you feel the back end is kind of mushy and pronounced more so in curves. A nice big old sway bar from Helwig would be the key. Any soft ride (especially in corners ) would benefit most greatly from a good...
Unless you have a SoftStart on the A/C, on start up the A/C electrical draw is excessive. As the A/C motors spin up the draw is excessive, once running the draw declines to rated draw. On startup the draw may exceed generator capacity, especially if there are other items running, like fridge...
...and it made a huge difference. Before the soft-start, our house lights would dim noticeably for an instant (kind of a blink). After the install, I never know when it starts. And, our heat pump service tech swears that using a softstart significantly improves the life of the compressor...
Adding "soft start" to virtually any high-draw equipment is beneficial. We've had a large heat pump unit at the sticks-and-bricks for several years. Every time the unit started, the house lights would blink/dim momentarily. A couple years ago, the tech who does our annual service on the unit...
Micro-air softstart install on single AC. Continue to fix the underbelly as mine has just fabric not coroplast. Mount an old B&O Beowolf 2000 somewhere in the camper. Put in an upgraded toilet, taller with porcelain bowl. Mount a power jack a customer pooched and I managed to fix after they...
...a 2021 Chassis SS-AGILE. We have used the 400 amp Lithium batteries in numerous environments. Our experience after a few modifications, softstart on AC, Victron to monitor usage and relay to autostart engine. AC in 80 degree weather low humidity, fridge, we lasted 3 hours, batteries at...
Hello @oldguy49 - yes, several of us use the MicroAir easy start (also called softstart) as you can find in searching this forum site. They are great but be sure you use the correct one for your setup. I suggest visiting the web site below to research if needed.

Indeed! I agree with thee!
The thing is: I absolutely love model building and making things. But this may have to wait. What makes it difficult is that I am not getting any younger, and every time I have been ready to start my building, as in setting up a little spot, the rug gets pulled out...
The previous owner had the softstart wired to the middle AC so it will run off the batteries. Last summer in the heat it was a very nice addition to keep the coach comfy when boondocking.
Good point @JoeHogan makes.
Understand the benefit if coach has solar of having softstart. @TJ&LadyDi mentions he was told easier on compressor when installed at S&B. What other advantages are there?
Welcome to RVF, @Williams&Williams; glad to have you here with us.
Soft-start will reduce your AC starting amperage by about 70%. A single 15K BTU AC can draw up to about 50A on startup; with SS, that will be reduced to about 15A. The unit will draw 13-14A when running (after start). If you...
...People are all over the place on generators; especially the more inexpensive ones. I'm sure the Westinghouse is fine, but it's not a Honda. If price is an issue, lots of people use those Horrible Freight gennies, and love them. The Honda starts our AC no problem, and we don't have a softstart.
...directly to the generator without an adapter to step down to the 15 amp plug in. Starting the AC may overload the 15 amp connection. The SoftStart on the air conditioner may be the answer for being able to use a generator with a lower power output. My camper has a 13,500 BTU air...
When an electric motor (such as one driving an AC compressor) starts, it initially draws a heavy electrical current in order to get things moving. A "soft-start" circuit simply manages the initial starting current of the motor in a way that eliminates the initial high current load. We don't...
I’ve got a loud 3500 watt generator that has a 30 amp RV outlet. It won’t run both AC units without a softstart module installed on them, but it will run one of them. As far as the noise, I found you can divert the sound and make it substantially quieter. It won’t ever be as quiet as a Honda...
Thanks all for the good information. Not the answer I was looking for, but what I thought would be correct. I didn't think running both was an option, but had to ask. Anyway, ill look into the softstart and just run one at a time for now. Thanks again and happy Camping!!
Do you need the MicroAir thermostat to add their softstart circuitry? I assumed the softstart can be used with any thermostat? ie: call for Cool, triggers the softstart circuit that then fires up the compressor....
I haven't done too much research like I know you have on softstart....If you...
