Texas totally overhauled it's DMV a few years back. It's now 100% by appt. Only problem is appts. in urban regions are ~3 mo's out. A visit is now however 15-30 minutes as opposed to the all day thunderdome experience of a few years ago.

So it appears that Brevard County in FL has now gone to appt only. I went to make an appt Monday night and they had Friday open. I booked Monday midday as I have plans. We will see how it goes. It was a good thing, hoping its even better.
