In Texas the order in which you are called depends on what you're there for. A person who arrived later than you may get called before you if the station handling that type transition is moving faster. Under our old system 2 hrs. would have been a picnic, it was 4-8 hrs and resembled Mad Max Thunderdome.So.....I went Monday for a simple registration. I had an appt for 11:05. Number was T112. When I got there, 15 min early, the sign said that there were two people in front of me. After seven people were called, they called T110 and I was notified I was next. six more people were called including an A number to the the same window that T110 was called.
I thought thats odd but waited. After thirty minutes, T111 was called. Well, again, thats odd as I was next. Approximately ten people were called before, almost 2 hours later I was finally called.
I sit down and the clerk, already is not in a good mood. Goes through my paperwork and states, this is all wrong. I said whats wrong, show me. She again reviewed and stated oh its good.
The vehicle registered, I escape.
They took what, in the past, was an easy, quick experience and created a nightmare. They have an appt only system now, which they did not have before, and cannot even get the appts in within two hours.
Thats what puzzled me.....when they called a different lettered number to the window that was clearly for registrations and title transfers. Glad I am done for a while lolIn Texas the order in which you are called depends on what you're there for. @Jim, thanks for brightening our day. What a wonderfully written post! Sorry that you and Trish had to go through this experience to do it, however. So, for reasons that can only be described as a desire to introduce unnecessary stress into an otherwise peaceful life, I decided to register my motorhome in Florida.
Hey TJ! Good to hear from you. I remember the DMV from SoCal and sometimes the lines went clear around the block. So yeah, we're not to that point yet. As such, they have to try harder to frog things up on the inside to make up for it. lol.@Jim, thanks for brightening our day. What a wonderfully written post! LadyDi and I are no strangers to encountering the DMV beast in its cave and can appreciate how frustrating an experience it can be. DMV offices should be required to prominently post the following motto; โYou canโt get there from here!โ
Best regards.
The SoCal DMV was horrible. But if you were a AAA member, you could get title transfers, registrations and renewals, etc done at the AAA office.Hey TJ! Good to hear from you.
