My coach sat for 17 years with 3\4 tank of fuel. I believe it to be contaminated with algae. Is there anything I can do to eradicate the algae problem without having to drop the tank? Maybe a solvent of some kind to dissolve it? Hoping someone has a clubhouse tip for me.

You can treat that fuel with a power service product called biocide. This will not get rid of the algae, but should kill it. It should drop to the bottom of the tank. Then you will need to pump out the dead algae and I would recomend all of the fuel from the tank. You may have a fuel distributer in your area willing to do this for you for a fee. You may go through a few fuel filters afterwards if there is still debri in the tank. Also if things are working well aftrwards and you get a load of fuel with a high biodiesel content this will act as a solvent and let loose anything remaining. And you will need a filter change then also.
