2015 Forest River Georgetown XL 328TS

My husband and I getting ready to look at this motorhome and would like to know the pro's and the con's, the likes and the dislikes from anyone who owns or has owned this model? Your input is GREATLY appreciated! Thank you!!

It has a GCVWR ( Motorhome + tow capacity) of -~30,000 lbs. with a 3 valve V10 and 5 speed torqshift tran. Mine with the exact same powertrain has a gcvwr of 23,000 and I definitely know it when dragging my 5k toad. So expect the Georgetown XL to be a slog in the hills and mtns. I’d check that the manifold studs are in good order, they have a history of rusting off on the V10.

This was one of our concerns, how it does on the hills and mountains and especially merging onto a highway! Thanks!

It will depend on your expectations. In my opinion a 24-25,000 lb. gvw MH w/V-10 powertrain is borderline under powered. A 5k toad is adding insult to injury.

I have a 2016 Georgetown XL 369 DS which is about 38 ft long for about 4-5 years I think. Traveled with it and a 2008 Jeep CJ from Tennessee to Whittier Ak last year and had a blast. My fuel mileage varies depending on the terrain. On the flats traveling about 60-63 I’m at 11 mpg. In the mountains around 6.5 that’s towing my toad “which is now a 2024 Chevy Colorado”. You will slow down going up the mountains along with all the other tractor trailers.
One nice thing is parts are readily available at parts stores like AutoZone. One time my engine started running rough so I put my coder reader and found a bad coil pack. Nursed it to a parts store, got a coil pack and went on my way.

Now diesels by far have more power and are less noisy, but they are a bit more expensive to maintain, I’m not traveling full time and I just can’t justify the purchasing cost either.

I do have “5 Star Tune” for the ECM. It provides better shift points and a little more power.

The pictures are from our Alaska trip.

I'm sorry, but you couldn't drive an a f53 w/Triton v10 @ 29-30k gcvw off a cliff and get 11 mpg. on the way down.
