Just purchased used 2021 Beyond 22c. No documentation for Coachmen or Ford - not even one remote control and dealer was no help. Trying to research everything.
Accessing the generator UNDER the unit in itself is going to be interesting but my current problem is the battery and battery shelf.
The unit has 18000 miles on it. The battery shelf is rusting. I need to get to it so I can see the amount of damage and try to figure out WHY it has rusted.
How do you access the battery that is under the right side across from the generator?

Try contacting Coachmen for some help. It’s worth a try. Welcome to the group.

Thank you - I will. Just thought of a place to look. When I find out I will post it in case someone else is looking for it

Took awhile to find the answer - heard from Craftsmen. ..."As far as the battery, here in our service department we use a floor jack with a wooden plate to put under the battery to lift battery up just enough to take the pressure off of the brackets the battery rest on. You then remove the bolts and then lower the battery down."

Not something I would feel safe in doing myself as those batteries are heavy.

I dropped my AGM battery and removed the bottom plate from my 2020 Coachmen Beyond 22RB. I needed to replace the battery which was not holding a charge. I used the Ford tire jack to relieve the pressure on the bolts but they were rusted solid. I ended up using an angle grinder to shear the bolts off and then let it drop onto a dolly to wheel away the 182# AGM battery. I then was able to wheel it to a recycling center to dispose of. It was difficult to deal with the very heavy battery.

I decided to up grade to 460AH Lithium battery but did not want to use that under chassis spot on the rear passenger side behind the wheels for a lithium battery that needs to be easily removed for the winter. It weighs about 90#s. I placed it under a bench on the “electrical side” of the van by trimming an open storage bin by 6 or 7 inches. By placing the new battery in that spot I could easily use existing cables from the generator, solar charger, ignition/alternator charger (I added a DC to DC charger) and inverter. Did not require drilling any new holes or snaking new cables/wires. I can add another lithium battery if I need in the future but will lose the remainder of that storage bin.
