My wife and I are moving up from C-Class to A and are getting close on a purchase of a used 23 New Aire 3543. I came across a post about the bedroom being really hot after traveling, poor insulation, and air conditioner unable to cool bedroom. Is or was this an issue?
Any of the diesel pushers have the same problem regardless of brand. Living in the desert I always, about a hour before arriving at a park start the gererator and turn the roof air units on. Then one of the first things I do is open the closet doors when I get set up. It reall is not a problem at all.
I'm pretty sure we have some New Aire owners on the forum, and hopefully, they will respond. As I recall, that has been an issue that owners have complained about.
It has been reported on the other forum that there is a recall on 2022 New Aire models due to the ductwork in the ceiling being crushed during roof install.
Our 2020 initially had poor airflow to the bedroom. When we were in Nappanee for the warranty punchlist in 2021, the tech installed a small piece of ABS as a diverter in one of the celling ducts. That directed more airflow to the bedroom area. At the time we were told that was their “standard fix” for the system. We have a large fan that we carry with us and used during the first year of ownership. It hasn’t been out of the closet since the diverter was installed in 2021.
I have a 2023 NA with the bedroom in the rear and the air flow to the bedroom is pretty paltry. I hacked this by stuffing foam in the duct between the front AC and the vents running to the back. I also installed a new vent in the bathroom ceiling that I can twist to turn off. This forces all the air from the rear AC unit to make its way to the back bedroom. That said, even with this hack when temps are over 95 the rear AC just cannot keep up. At that price point, even though only 35', it really does need to come with 3 ACs in my opinion. That, or mount the AC directly over the bedroom instead of in the middle of the coach. Trying to divert the air by approximately 8' of duct work from the mid coach to the back bedroom just doesn't work. The hacks help, but still unsatisfying in high temps.
This is the diverter Newmar installed in our 2020 3545. It blocks the flow from the rear AC to the living room and forces more air into the bath and bedrooms. It’s a square piece of ABS. Our ductwork looks different to that in the post Mark linked to.
So far it’s been sufficient to keep the rear cool. It’s not as cool as the front, so I set the thermostat lower in the bedroom via the Silverleaf control panel.
