Problem Air conditioner kaput (Dometic 15K BTU A/C + Heat pump)

Make sure you discharge any capacitor before handling it. It can make you hurt yourself.

Discharged it 1200 times, also bought a discharge tool. I was unable to test mine with a multimeter. Just shows OL no matter what I do. I watched YT videos, either mine is truly dead or I can't figure out the fluke and it seems straight forward.

I wish I would have known to carry a spare one of these. How many people replaced complete air conditioner units instead of replacing this $80 part? If you don't have one, I suggest carrying a spare. I'm ordering two, one for spare.

Well, I guess I should be thankful I got 9 years out of her. The front A/C is now coming on making a low pitch hum and then turning off. I have the Microair soft starts in both which I attribute to why I got this much time out of them but now it's time to figure out where to get this fixed and with what.

I have the Dometic units with heat pump as most of us with Newmar have. And per @Chuggs recent saga I think Dometic is out of the picture now or are they coming back into play? Do I get this replaced somewhere local in the Ashland, VA area or do I go to NIRVC, Newmar, or where would you suggest?

My trip actually comes to an end tomorrow so I'll rough it, one works (aft unit) and the temps will cool down in the evening and overnight so it's not the end of the world.

I welcome any suggestions as to what I'm hearing and what you suggest for getting a replacement. I think at 9 years I should probably get both replaced at the same time.

P.S. I don't know if I have 15k or 13.5k units.

i would try to find 18k btu for replacement.....I would suggest try swapping capacitor from your good working AC.....could be the only problem
