Resolved Another slide issue!

So just as I am finishing a much needed cleaning and detail of the coach after the FWS caper, I find that the galley slide is not closing properly. The aft end is hanging open by about an inch. Multiple cycles give varying results non of which is fully closing. I checked the motors and mechanicals for any looseness and all seems fine. It seems to be a synchronization of the dual motor system that is the issue. Has anyone had to synch up their motors. Nothing in the Newmar manual of course. I did find that the Accent LED strip above the gally cabinets came loose and got caught in the aft lock and was pulled away. got it loose and out of the way but that did not fix the issue.

Disregard this transmission for now anyway.... I think the issue is solved. I found that the aft lock mechanism seemed a bit bound up and may have had a piece of the LED strip light caught in it at the top. I lubed and exercised the locks and now the room is functioning normally.

The next time I closed the room, I noticed that it was indeed retracting unevenly and not closing completely at the aft end. I followed the programing protocol and it corrected the issue. During my investigation however, I did find that both set screws on the aft cogged wheel were loose allowing the wheel to have free play on the key. The wheel would not be able to go anywhere but eventually the key could have worked out and that would be a big problem. Now I need to check each of the set screws and would suggest others do the same next time you are poking around doing maintenance.

I had this same issue and spent a week at Newmar getting the FWS fixed. It was due to both the torque bushing being loose and cog wheel set screws being loose. While there Newmar did a slide motor bolt torque, there's a bulletin out about torquing . If a motor bolt wouldn't torque that motor was replaced under this bulletin. In all I had three motors replaced 2 under the bulletin and one I paid for. I couldn't get any information on the bulletin as to when it was issued and why I hadn't received a notice. Guess maybe it just internal and for 2016 or earlier model coaches. All slides work great. After traveling home on the last stop I got the dreaded bang noise on the FWS. I knew something had loosen up. Once home I checked the torque bushings and set screws. Both were loose on the rear FWS motor. Retorque and tightened all is fine again. I will be checking these on all slides after some number of cycles, just haven't decided how many cycles.
