fired up the furnace left the batteries to run the system ,two brand new interstate deep cycle batteries were depleted in about 4 hours is this normal?

Usually to run the furnace or A/C you need shore power or generator. Batteries don’t power much for long.

Really hard to answer this. I'm not sure what the draw is on the 12v furnace fans in the coach. Obviously you're using the diesel burner to supply the heat source I assume. Mathematically you'd have to measure the draw and then determine how long the amp hours of your house battery bank will last.

You haven't yet filled out your profile including the RV details so it's hard to help and you haven't provided the details of your house battery bank. With more detail the community can better answer your question.

Electric motors, blowers etc. use lots of power. Just because you are burning propane, does not mean you are not using much battery power. 4 hrs without being hooked up on 110V is pretty good.
