My battery disconnect switch stopped turning on. Tried to turn power on inside the coach and the switch turns on if I hold it on but turns off if I release the switch. What should I be looking for. Blown fuse or something else. Thank you for any help you can offer.

To troubleshoot your battery disconnect switch issue:

1. Check for a blown fuse: Inspect the fuse protecting the switch and replace it if necessary.
2. Inspect the switch: It may be faulty or worn out, preventing it from staying engaged.
3. Check for loose or corroded connections: Examine all wiring and connections for damage or corrosion.
4. Test the voltage: Use a multimeter to check for voltage drops when the switch is engaged.
5. Look for a failing solenoid/relay: If your system uses one, it may not be holding the connection properly.
6. Manually engage the switch: If it works when held, but not on its own, the switch may need replacing.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, consider replacing the switch or contacting a professional for further diagnosis.

Thank you for your reply, and yes the switch does work if held on by me. It is a momentary switch and will not stay connected when released. I will replace the switch but just wanted to see if there were any hidden fuses to check first. Newmar likes to hide fuses in strange places that are not always easy to find.

Interesting.... But my first guess would be the relay...as it appears that the signal is being sent to the relay, but the relay is not holding the setting.

Thoughts?

So on the majestic I just troubleshot, the battery switch was in fact a breaker.

Verify you don't have to much of a load! It might not be the battery switch at all.

As it turns out richpatty was correct. The relay was not working. I had purchased a new relay and it was bad from the factory. I rebuilt the old one and bench tested it and it works fine . reinstalled it and I am back up and running.
Thank you for your answers. Who would think brand new parts would not be any good.
