Battery solar charger

I'm wondering if there is a true solar charger for an rv battery that charges by the sun and doesn't have to be plugged into the pickup cigarette portal.

There are many 12v solar panel kits or packages specifically for charging batteries. And as stated above, you connect them right to the batteries. If you had sufficient amperage to charge your batteries, you’d blow fuses trying to go through a 12v outlet, and that would only take power to the chassis batterie(s), not the house bank.

Better still, depending on budget and space available, would be to use residential panels and an MPPT charge controller. I’m getting over 40amps direct to my house batteries out of my system.

Rewording of a previous post. Is there a solar charger that charges solely on sun power. I don't want to be pulling a charge off my pickup to charge my rv battery.

Yes there are many. A simple 12v panel will do it. The more the better. The only limitations are how much you can carry (mounted or portable) and how much you want to spend. This is very common technology and a simple google search will yield more than enough results - probably more than you want.

I don’t work with 12v systems so I dont have any direct experience with them, the various brands, etc, (other than removing 12v panels from RVs in favor of residential panels) but Randy at BestConverter - Converters, Inverters, Electrical Supplies, Electronics is knowledgeable, reliable, and trustworthy and they carry 12v solar charging equipment, such as Zamp Solar

I've used these for yrs.. I'm getting ready to put this on here for sale.. These are amazing I have a few of them. Expensive, but well worth it. I just didn't add them to my RV when I sold it a few yrs. ago and have no need for them.
