Do you prefer to use your own gas BBQ or the charcoal BBQ furnished at the park?

  • I use my own Gas BBQ, even though there is a Charcoal BBQ furnished at the park.

  • I rarely drag out my Gas BBQ if the park furnishes a Charcoal BBQ.

We have grilled hot dogs in the fire pit at state parks in Virginia. The Camp Hosts usually clean out the fire pits for the next occupants. We put tin foil over the grill, because those are usually not very clean. Also, we put down tin foil in the fire pit before starting a fire. And we do clean out the fire pit before we leave the campsite.
For steaks and burgers we have a small gas grill and an old George Foreman Grill.

Funny, I could smell and taste those hotdogs the way you were describing them. As a kid, my family camped a lot in WV state parks and my mom was fanatical about ensuring the grill was clean.

nope.....nope....nope. I have never used one in any public place. I'm not a germaphobe (I don't think) but I just like my stuff because I know what its been used for. I have also have never made a reservation based on whether or not it has a BBQ or Fire pit. I go because of the park location and what's around it.

Wow, 12 out of 12 people won't use it even if it's there! On one hand, I like the idea of not buying a bunch of bbq's, but a campground without a bbq doesn't seem quite right. You all realize I'm talking about a pedestal bbq, right?

Sorry, @Jim.

Just for grins, who here does NOT carry some form of outdoor cooking appliance (charcoal/propane/electric grill, griddle, smoker/grill, etc.) in their RV? @Neal doesn't have to answer this question; we already know he carries ALL of them...and, probably some we haven't even thought of. :ROFLMAO:

Seriously, do most folks carry some kind of outdoor cooking appliance? We do; a propane grill.

Never used a park grill in 15+ years of class A rving. We carry a propane grill and a Pronto propane pizza oven. Also carry a propane fire pit.
(sorry this is a bit redundant as I didn’t realize my wife had posted on the previous page)

I prefer charcoal over propane, but on my own grill that I carry. I know who and what used it the last time.

I would have no problem using the grill (think aluminum foil) except that I don't carry any charcoal briquets with me.

I've never been a fan of this style. I like to be able to control oxygen feed, temp and smoke.

Hmmm...outnumbered here :) Although I carry a nice Magna Gas Grill I enjoy the flavor of oak BBQ. Thus I occasionally start a camp pit with briquettes then
toss in some oak bark and grill (whatever). My way of thinking is the burn down will kill the guck left behind by others. That's the beauty of this Country..at least for now...to each
his own!
