I am trying to determine the best Toad braking system for my set up. I have a DP with air brakes and a 2000 jeep cherokee. Initially i thought the brakemaster 9160 for air brakes looked good, but have now been made aware that an airline failure in the toad could negatively impact my coach air brakes. Yikes that's scary. How about the brake buddy system? Looks a little cumbersome and I don't like that it's not proportional. What does anyone suggest?

Thanks!

X2 AF1.

X3 on AF1

I had the same air brake system concerns so I went with the SMI (now Demco) Stay & Play Duo. Made by same company as the AF1. This unit requires only electrical connection to the coach. Has it's own air source. Been using it for 5 years in 2 different toads and I'm happy with it.

Have heard nothing but praise around the AF1 system. We had a gasser when we set up our toad, went with Invisibrake. worked great with gasser, still works great with DP.

I spent a lot on my motorhome, toad, originally I ordered the RVI Brake or whatever it's called. Then I realized why skimp now, pay the extra and get the system that will be far easier to use and that was the right answer, I switched the order and am so glad I did. So many times I've had to disconnect/reconnect in other places than campgrounds, etc. that it just makes life easier and it's worth the extra penny. I say this with no experience with other systems so I don't know what's involved. Just do whatever makes your life easier and therefore makes the RV experience more enjoyable.

We have the brake buddy and it is cumbersome, and a bit of a pain.
