I've wanted some form of fire suppression added to the rig, but I go into vapor lock whenever I hear how much Proteng costs and the required added costs to install via a certified installer. With my previous rig, I've gone to RV shows and a couple of Tiffin rallies and am gobsmacked by the price given how simple it looks to install. Now that I've had my Newmar New Aire for a couple of years I did some more research...
Like many others, I also found that BlazeCut "T" Series is similar to Proteng. Because classic VW and Porche's have fuel lines directly over their hot electrical components in their air-cooled engine compartments, the Vintage VW Club of America and the Porsche 356 Registry widely recommends the BlazeCut brand. Turns out, like most things nowadays, you can buy them on Amazon.
Unlike Proteng though, Blazecut has built-in pressure gauges at one of the ends, a longer warranty, is cheaper, and you can EASILY install yourself if you don't mind laying on your back in an emptied out bay or have long arms. It took me all of a half hour to install 2 meter long tubes in my Oasis and Inverter bays as well as a 1 meter long tube in my front driver's side electrical bay. Given my experience I'm now scoping out where else I'd install more.
Best,
