I'm setting up my 2022 jeep for towing. Installed the new base plate and all went well. Of course the one off of the 2015 is different. I removed the old brake-away switch from my old jeep. I have mounted and ran the cable to the front seat. Do you pull the cable to test it and does it just push back in. Remember no question is a dumb question .Next week the lights. Double pig tails because the 2022 Jeep did not come with a trailer hitch which I have already installed.
Thanks in advance.

I do test ours every couple of months now. I use a test meter to make sure there is a closed circuit when the plug has been pulled. It should reset to open circuit once you insert the plug again. I had a problem a couple of years ago. The plug would not reset. I had to take the unit apart since I was no where near an RV Store to buy a new one. It is a quite simple unit. I discovered the spring that holds the plug in place had rusted away. I found a replacement spring and it is still working fine.. Rather than spending $100.00 on a new switch I now just check it more often.
