Rigging awning windows

Hi Intech owners - potential future owner(s) here with a hangup. We love the Willow but really dislike that all the operable windows are those emergency hatches that barely open. I know there are some 2026s out there with sliding windows, but all the available ones on our half of the country (west) are the emergency windows. It seems like there were very few 2026s with sliders, and all the new 2027s have the emergency windows now, which just seems like a strange design choice.

Anyway, has anyone rigged their emergency windows with telescoping arms or something similar (found in other brands like Little Guy) to be able to prop the awning windows open wider and hold them open? Or found anyone online with an Intech doing so?

I would find windows that push out at the bottom perfect. Many sliding windows fill with dirt in the track and need constant cleaning to slide freely. The drain slots plug over time causing leaks. Need to be closed when you need ventilation most to keep rain out.

More to your question. As long as the hinge stays together you should be able to lengthen the system to add more lift. Mods are allowed.

Right, the awnings aren't the problem, we have overland windows our our current camper and prefer them over sliders, actually. It's the fact that they made all the awnings emergency windows that only open 4 inches. Thanks!

I am happy to be able to compare the sliders of our long-owned 1989 HR previous-use motorhome to my frameless Intec 2026 OVR Navigate's windows, same design as yours.

The slider window felts, as I called the fibrous inserts under the sliding glass panes in our 1988 motorhome, got wet by design, from rain. The slotted drains sent the excess bulk water there on to the outside, but the frequent, recurring rains at our Florida home kept the felts in a lily pad slimy mold growing state all summer when home.

Fast forward to our 2019 Intech Flyer Explore: It has a slider. It built up a hidden dirt dam outside under the rubber trim and the rainwater that could not reach the drain slot spilled over to the inside. AARRGHH!

Now we have the frameless windows in the OVR. Yes, the red latches are wonky and the screen frame fitment seems odd, those being snapped inside, but a shut OVR window wont be growing slime mold or spilling water inside. We camp in Southeast summer temps a lot, windows shut. In cool weather, the multiple speed Maxx vent fans will bring plenty of air through the barely opened windows.

Keep in mind that if you free the red latch and push the glass out too far, it will release from the top hinge and fall to the ground. I ain't modifying ours!

Enjoy that Intech. With the OVR bought so Mrs T has a glamper, we still kept the 14 foot Flyer Explore for my trips that Mrs T does not go along on, my work being done for others only needing a nights place for one to sleep.

If you really need a slider, measure the opening where you wish to have it, buy one that size from the Lippert catalog and install it. Maybe one or two swapped into the right spots would be enough?

Thanks for your thoughts and advice on this. I got the window measurements from Intech and have been pricing out tern overland replacements. My hope is to still just be able to attach some cam-lock struts to them, since that would be easier, but will need to spend some time with it first. I'm sure the hinges could be swapped out too. There's always an option depending on how far you want to go!
