None of us here of course but in my recent travels I’ve really noticed people completely disregard check-in times. Arrivals around 11 AM with a typical 1 PM check in. I’ve been to one CG where they won’t let you in early. The only time I “abuse” this are SP’s with 4 PM check-ins. Good thing I did this in NM as the office closes at 4. Odd! Anyone else notice these early check-in peeps?

I always checkin early, never had a problem. It's not like they need to clean or change sheets.

My current stay had a published checkin of 3pm. I arrived at 9am, no problem.

I also checkout much earlier than required, often before 7am.

Not the case in my current location at Usery SP in Mesa, AZ. I arrived at 1:03 PM and the lady wasn’t going to let me in until she realized it was in fact after 1 which is the check-in time. They do groom the sites here with sand which is weird.

Cherrystone CG in Cape Charles VA they made me wait as they don’t allow anyone in until ALL sites have been verified cleared. I actually drove to mine and it was clear but they wouldn’t let me in until all cleared. I had to go in and back out as there was no turn around.

Most of the time it’s not an issue as we know. It’s up to the CG. But I do try to arrive typically after 1.

We arrived at Dakota Ridge RV Resort in Golden CO 15 min early after 6 hrs of driving. They charged us $25 “early arrival” fee. And the place was nothing close to a resort. We were crammed in like sardines. Had to ask people to move their cars so we can get out.

We check in early quite often. Only once have we gotten resistance and a early fee warning. I certainly would understand if the site was not vacated yet.

Guilty as charged!

We have checked in early a couple of times. Generally our travel days are anywhere from 300 to 500 miles, however there has been a couple times when that distance was much shorter and we had to be out of the campground we were leaving by 10 or 11am. Even killing time and making a stop we arrived a little early. It wasn't an issue with them but I try not to make a habit of it.

I'm dealing with the short times traveling in AZ as I'm only 1-2 hours between CG's. I try to roll at checkout time to help the situation. That is when the situation is at risk for me, I'm not one to leave a CG prior to 10 usually. Leaving prior to 8 is an emergency situation!

We tried to check-in early at a state park in Indiana; the check-in was 3 PM and they absolutely refused to let us. We got there at 1 PM and they told us to go to the holding area for early arrivals. We did; sat waiting until 3 PM. We were first in a line of 5ers, trailers, and MHs. When we finally got past the guard we realized we should have left and found a better CG. It was too tight for the rig and unable to get level. We left early. Lesson learned.

Most private CG seem OK with early arrivals. We are usually late arrivals though. If we get on the road by 11 am its a good day. o_O

To be honest, I’ve never given it much thought. I’ll get there when I get there. If I’m too early, I’ll find a place out of the way to park and go explore the area. If I’m going to be late, I call ahead to let em know. If a CG made me wait I’d probably shrug and go find a place to eat or explore

One of the nearby CGs we frequent to visit my Sis and BIL are absolutely rigid on the 12 noon check-in. I arrived 10 minutes early once and I was told to turn around, leave the property and come back at noon. A couple weeks ago I arrived 3 minutes early and had to sit at the guard house until noon. Rigid. I'm ok with that. I'm getting pretty good at leaving at the right time from my S&B 125 miles away from the CG to get there at close to noon. This is a pretty big CG, 900+ sites, and I guess in the winter, the arrivals get overwhelming, since the CG is booked solid, so if they let one person in, they will have to let everyone sneak in. You don't reserve a particular site here, just a site and in the off season, you go find the one you want. In the winter, you're escorted by a golf cart to the site you will get, sometimes with a little wiggle room for selection.
When I'm trying to get somewhere and am traveling 300 miles/day I usually arrive 2-3 pm so it's around or after check-in time.
