A reminder when purchasing tires. Check the DOT code date of manufacture.
After I made clear the day before in a phone call to the tire shop I would not accept tires older than 6 months....they gave assurances.
Steer tires installed (all I wanted for now). Price paid, receipt given...and as I was pulling away I remembered that I had not checked the date. 4325. Oh NO WAY am I accepting 1 year old tires. So....after no alternative was presented they were going to remount my original tires then CHARGE ME FOR THE REMOVAL AND REMOUNT! Oh no way....No, sorry that isn't acceptable.
I was able to find the exact same tires at another shop that would have been closer to me so that was good. But a long day....started at 10am...and just now ending. Oh btw, the new tires were 2626 so I'll take those okay.
Just insist on fresh tires from the beginnning....and maybe check the code before mounting...as I SHOULD HAVE done.
