Morning all,
My wife and I are former Travel Trailer owners. Purchased a new 2026 Entegra Odyssey 27U, so this will be our first time experiencing the Class-C. Going through the walk-thru at the dealership was a bit overwhelming. My wife video'd most of it, but background noise and other things make it hard to hear and pick up on the basics/essentials and such. We are 62 yrs old and will be traveling with 2 Black Labs. We will be heading out for 3-4 day trips, along with possible several week trips throughout the year. Our rig is 30amp, 2 - A/Cs, Solar, 2 slides and sits on the E-450 chassis.
Spending this much on a rig, I want to ensure I dont screw anything up and always like to have a pre-departure checklist, travel checklist and tear-down checklists. I am writing to ask if anyone has any of these they would be will to share with? I know we will have to tailor them to our specific needs, but would greatly appreciate it if any of you has one that you use and would pass it along?
Also, driving a rig this big (approx 31 ft), I am a little intimidated before I get used to this. We are planning a short trip next week from our home in Yukon, OK to Ardmore, OK, which is about a 2-3 hour drive. We are doing this as a test run to get used to this new style of camping. We will be taking our dogs and will not be pulling a toad. For now, our plan is to either Uber or rent a car if the need arises. While driving home from the dealership, I was a little nervous, especially when the tractor trailers passed me - the whole wind deal where it pushes you around, really had me holding on tightly. I've driven large vehicles before, but I guess I need to man up, lol. As some of you know, the wind here in Oklahoma is always blowing hard. Where I am leading with this is to also ask for any tips that any of you might have as far as getting more comfortable driving these things - would appreciate any advice anyone wants to share.
Thanks in advance - grateful we have resources like this!!!
