Coachman Beyond 22D Van: Back screen

The screen for the backdoor of our Coachman Beyond 22D won't stay down. It's brand new. How can we get it to stay down please?

I’m assuming this is on a tension roll. Maybe a slight quick tug when extending.

We just brought our new Beyond 22D home-running through its operation. The back screen does not work like a tension window blind (stop at different spots), it’s designed to pull all the way down and stick to two metal stops plates on the floor with magnets.

We stopped one night at a camp ground on our way home from the dealership and noticed that the back screen will loose its magnetic grip if there is a wind blowing against it but otherwise seems like a good design.

On a slightly different subject-our trip back was a long cross country 3 day driving experience through major cities, rural country roads, Interstate over open windy plains, and mountain passes. Overall, very impressed with the Ford Eco-boost power and its transmission.

Initially I was somewhat disappointed with the gas mileage compared to what others have reported. But, I learned to watch the tach and keep it as close to 2000 as long as possible. Our Van seems to have a sweet spot at 58 mph and at 69 mph and at 74 mph depending on the speed limit.

My advice when on Interstates with 80 speed limits is to run at 74 and only use cruise control when conditions are level and without heavy wind. In general I wouldn’t not use cruise control in hilly country, or bucking a wind on any road. The cruise control will adjust for those conditions and sent the engine RPMs dramatically up and there is a long delay before it will return to a lower RPM and sometimes (in windy conditions) it stays high.

By keeping your engine off cruise control in those conditions you can feather the accelerator to keep it closer to 2000 RPMs and maintain a decent gas mileage. Our gas mileage average 14.5 MPG. But when I read about MPG in the 18 MPG range I believe it’s driving 55 MPH on level ground with a tailwind! Ha.
