A friend of mine that is over the the Ryder Fleet maintenance for the United States, told be that they have one of the engines in service for evaluation. He said the short black is the diesel engine with different pistons. The head is redesigned for gasoline. He said so far, they are very pleased with it's performance and thinks it will be cheaper to maintain and operate, without all the emission equipment required on a diesel and price of fuel. He still does not know if California is going to certify it to operate there. They are pushing foe ZERO emissions.
