Working on a trip to Custer SD from Scottdale AZ.

Return from Custer to home we plan to visit friends in Durango.

Looking at the map I'd like to run I25 down to 285 around Denver and then over through Pagosa Spring and on to Durango.

Looking for an overnight about half way and any advice/opinions on the planned route. I'd like to get through Denver and stay somewhere along 285 but options look sparse.

Is there a better route?

Lets hear options.... Thanks!!!!!

Well the objective is to find a good place for an overnight between Custer and Durango.....

I'm glad these are your travel plans! ;) This would be a four day journey for us. Anyway, Denver appears to be close to the half way mark and your correct, there are very slim pickins there. The two State parks have a max length of 35 feet combined. You are too long. We have stayed at Saint Vrain State Park in Longmont. It is right on I 25 and they can accommodate your rig. We thought it was an okay overnighter. St. Vrain State Park - Camping & Lodging.

Safe travels

With any kind of rig, I try avoiding passes like those around Durango. But the view?

So consider the road through taos on that leg.. been a while and not sure if that will avoid the pass.

Thanks for the heads up.

Taos is a long ways out of the way. Wolf creek is no big deal. Been over it a few times.
