We toured the park about 12 years ago, and there are more rv parks in the area now, so see what would appeal to you. We both really thought touring the park very worthwhile. All the places where both Indians, and Custer’s men died are marked. It is sort of eery. However, it is easily done in a day, so I would advise just two nights total. If you have not been, the Mount Rushmore area, and the Badlands, are really interesting. As I head west after the Oshkosh AirVenture airshow I have two weeks or so to get to Denver. I've heard Custer State Park is a good place. I'm open to any suggestions on places to stay, things to see and do, etc.
Thanks. I'll be at the AirVenture airshow in Oshkosh, WI the last week of July then pushing west so first two weeks of August are my South Dakota travels.@Neal The Newmar International rally July 16 - 23 is sorta in the neighborhood at Rock Springs Wyoming. You can still register up to 7/8
When at Custer’s Gulch, take your toad on the Needles Hwy. Not doable in the coach. Very scenic, and fun. JudyI was able to book into Badlands KOA 8/3-7 and Custer's Gulch 8/7-11 so I can checkout the area a few days. Have to arrive Denver 8/15 so saved some time to see north CO enroute as well.
