Our's it at Cummins as we speak. They said before looking at it,"I think this is a Newmar problem." The engine light code specifically said "after treatment". Is that not the DEF system? I'll keep you posted~!It doesn't pass the common sense test to me. Someone needs to get with a vendor and find out the real story on how a DEF tank is designed and works. It seems to me the tank should be able to function down to completely empty and read tank levels as such. We are all trying to engineer something we no little of but all seem to speculate heavily about. Same with DEF sources when I have a feeling the Spartan/Shaw DEF issues are completely unrelated to the actual DEF in any way but is completely a computer issue (circuit board, sensor, whatever).
How about we all blame @Neal ?The line between powertrain, emission control and chassis is about as wide as a football field and as blurry as the morning after a high school “kegger!”
I just had a discussion with Spartan, Cummins and Newmar about a similar type issue (not DEF-related) and the most definitive answer I could get as to who was responsible for an engine-related problem (engine won’t shut off) was “it all depends.” Spartan finally stepped up and agreed to cover the fix (if they can find the intermittent problem) under warranty. I thought it would have been a Cummins issue, but what do I know?

This Ol’ Dinosaur is ornery enough to stick around and aggravate you active RVers even after we are no longer RVing. This is my most favorite @TJ&LadyDi quote of all time
I hope you change your mind but understand if you don’t. Sure would be a different place without one of my favorite characters always dropping some know how and wisdom
