Another Canadian here, enjoying the winters in the Casa Grande region of Arizona for 3 months annually. More Pickleball nuts, enjoying staying in relatively good shape, and getting a lot of socializing time in, amongst using many of the amenities at Palm Creek. Have had to do many upgrades to our older Tiffin Phaeton, but it's ready to be enjoyed once again soon, now that Autumn has arrived. We do have some concerns, as possibly others might, with regard to the huge flow of illegal migrants, on the 3 to 4 days it takes in each direction though! Perhaps for those that might have some 'tips' on staying safe, it would be wise to see what others think on the topic? As always, looking forward to a warmer winter than here in the Pacific Northwest!

Don’t know about that part of the country. I try to stop and stay at well lit big name truckstops (with RV parking, when possible). I try to use locations not near big cities. Also, I only stay in rest areas on major interstates, in a truck space, as close to the building as I can. Keep eyes and ears attuned to anything or anyone who does not look right. Move on if you feel uncomfortable.

Greetings Dale2000. Welcome to the forum from a fellow Canuk.

We have been snowbirds for many years now and have been full time traveling for the last seven. We often stay near Yuma (which as you know is right on the border) and have never had an issue with Illegals. One of our favorite spots is right on the border beside Los Algodones, Mexico where we have witnessed illegals cross into the the US. We have never been bothered by them. We have traveled into Mexico (it is not dangerous so long as you don't mess with the Cartel). Upon returning, we get stopped on the Mexican side of the border on occasion for the Mexican Feds to check for stowaways (we have never had one). Casa Grande is quite a ways north of the border. I doubt if you will even encounter any illegals. I'm betting your biggest problem this winter will be a fellow snowbirder having too much fun during beer thirty.
