It’s probably easy to change out but I’m concerned with re moving the bar to cover it. The padding on my door travel bar is wearing out. What have you done to replace yours?

I removed the foam once it started looking bad. The handle was fine for many years without a cushion, and wasn't slick, etc. More recently, I upgraded to an extended handle (direct replacement in my case). This is a bit off topic but I highly recommend this handle. We have a 5th wheel camper that is well off the ground. The handle provides stability to us as we get older, and to others who aren't as mobile.

My main concern is if there is a spring inside or any special steps I’m not aware of or do I just remove the 2 bolts in each bracket?

Mine might be a little different than yours - I can't remember how the old handle was made. Mine doesn't have a nut or fastener or anything visible on the bottoms of the 2 hinge pins where the handle swivels back and forth. There is a spring inside the mounting block that holds the handle downward in the detents of the mounting block, and I would think that there are fasteners on the bottom of the hinge pin inside, accessible after the mounting block is removed. Maybe a C-clip. So, I'm not much help and I hope someone will come along and clarify this. If you need to remove a block, I think removing only one would suffice. And the screws are just large wood screws. I wonder if there is a rubberized tape that you could spiral around the handle for a grip.
