Driver’s mirror position

One thing I’ve noticed about the driver’s mirror being positioned where it is viewed through the side window is it can get washed out by glare/reflection from the side window in certain instances.

It happens to me a lot when I am backing into my driveway and RVport. I would love to reposition it so that I view it thru the windshield like the passenger side, but the arm is too short.

Is there a way to mitigate this that I am unaware of?

The pic I’m posting shows what I’m talking about. What you see in that mirror is actually in front and to the right of the MH. I can’t see squat behind me. I may have freaked out the first time I experienced it.

I had them adjust the arm of the mirror on my DS before I left the factory which allowed me to see sidewall and behind me.

I can tell you’ve been there. That’s pretty much what I’m limited to when it happens.

In all seriousness I have NOT had this issue. As @ARD said it is critical/vital to have your mirrors adjusted perfectly, for me the right side is the one you need to nail down to see the traffic on the right side. It seems to me that reflection is coming from your entry door area? I leave the screen mesh down at all times and that may be what's blocking the right side noise. In my "black bag" was a red handled T allen wrench. This is for the mirror. There is an allen bolt at the bottom center. Loosen that to pivot your mirrors and move the arm, etc. as needed.

The one thing that gets my attention more than not are reflections off the chrome side of the mirrors such as vehicles.

I get that on the passenger side when backing into the drive certain times of the day. I have an idea. Will report back if it works.

Yes, it has happened to me. But please be aware, there are certain limits to how far out the mirror cab be. In my RV Class we used a 1/2" piece of wood, and that was placed along side the outside of the coach, and the mirror housing was pushed in till they touched. That then was setting on how far out the mirrors can stick. I keep both shades on the DS side down as far as possible but not blocking my sight picture, this I think makes huge difference. The chrome reflection Neal mentions is also an issue. I have learned to live with it. The Co-Pilot complains she has no sight picture on her side because the other mirror is being blocked by the post at corner. This one seems to be more difficult than the last one for sight picture, I always look three times.

I moved my mirror forward to the A pillar and fabricated a shield from poster board that attaches to the A pillar and comes out at a 45 deg angle. It corresponds with the mirror profile, blocks all reflection and makes it easy to see out of the mirror. Coach is in a short storage session now so mirrors are covered or I'd get a better pic. Got this idea from a shield I saw on a passenger bus.

I use a temporary shield similar to lostinfla's. Been considering making permanent one out of plastic with a hinge. Is your shield permanently attached to the a pillar or do you attach, use then remove? If so, how is it attached?

I bent the attached end at a 45 deg angle and slipped it under the pillar trim/ guide for the front shade. One existing screw in the trim piece holds it fine. Stays on and it's been on for a few years now. Don't even notice it anymore.
