This trip Starting Monday, so far camp grounds are empty. Large KOA in a Jennings Florida off I 75, only 4 rigs. Whole rows empty.
When planning this trip I had campground hosts say to me, the place is empty no need for reservations.
Is this Normal for this time of year??

Possibly. Back to school, end of season, etc. etc.

Strange, we're seeing more and more first time visitors than ever before. And lots of return visitors too. Probably as Neal suggested, seasonal effects.

Fall color (colour) hot spots will be hard to get. I'm getting ready to call and try to get into a location and I have a hunch what the answer is going go be.

Yes, end of summer and pre-snow bird season, last September was the same during our western trip, half full campgrounds every stop

An observation from just one Texas campground in the DFW area. Weekends have been sold out most of the summer, but weekday reservations are fluctuating between +/- five percent. Overall, business has been steady. Can’t recommend just showing up and hoping for your favorite spot.

It has been the slowest summer season boondocking I have ever seen

For a baseline, I have been full-timing in the forest for the last 22 years.

Only rule I have established is " stay on the western side of the US!

Probably so in Florida. Try back in January, different story I bet.

We, as Canadians, are heading south this winter. We will not let politics interfere with our travel plans. Who knows what tomorrow brings. We may have only a little time left to explore this continent and still so much more to see and do. As long as health and wealth allow, we will continue and to hell with politics.

True. May find a place to camp this winter. Lol.
See the Google Earth view attachment. We have booked our trip already. This is the first year we have been able to secure a spot in the Keys and the Everglades.

We expect to cross the border (hoping the new paperwork is complete and accepted) October 01 this year so we will be in the Blue Ridge Parkway area in time to see the colors. Back in Canada for April 01 2026

Sorry Jim. We will be close to Deer Springs but we don't want to stay the minimum 3 days.

Looks like you will only be about 45 minutes from where we stay in FL for the winter - while you are at Encore Ramblers.
