I'm looking to purchase my first travel trailer in about 3 months. I've been researching for about a month and everything keeps pointing me to Grand Design as the frontrunner. I hear good and bad about every manufacturer but I seem to hear more good and less bad about Grand Design that others. It also helps that 3 of the 4 floorplans that I believe will work best for me are GD units. The 2 units that are leading the way right now are the Transcend 200MK and Imagine 22RBE. Size, weight, and floorplans of these 2 are pretty similar, so the decision will likely come down to quality. I plan to use this unit full-time for at least 4 months, maybe longer. Do the stick and tin models hold up to full time use as well as the aluminum/fiberglass units? Do any owners of either the Transcend line or Imagine line have any positive or negative feedback about their unit that may be something I haven't read or considered. Does one construction method tow better than the other? I'll be towing with a half ton. Any feedback that could help with this decision will be greatly appreciated.

Everyone I've talked to with an Imagine rants and raves about how good it is.

I was going to say…..I see more Imagine units than Transcend on the road and campgrounds. Not that this means anything or is scientific, just a observation by myself. As to a stick and tin built…..our first TT was a FR Grey Wolf and loved it. Just knew one day we would be in the Fiver nation and we really were geared toward a Jayco then the dealer also showed us a GD and we loved the extras and upgrades they seem to give. Paid a little more but we loved the plan.

I just purchased in Sept.2022 an Imagine 17MKE with solar power. It is just for my wife and I. We love everything about it except the dealer that sold it to us. Evidently GD does not put the batteries(2) in the unit. It is up to the dealership to put in the type of battery they wish to install. The dealership did not know that you cant put standard wet lead batteries with this unit. Just make sure you get the correct batteries if you're going with solar.
