I’m wondering if your battery was to go dead or become weak enough wwould the transmission automatically go back into a default. I know that’s happening with other brands that must have B-power for the trans to stay in neutral position. I think it’s a safety issue. That’s why we bought a jeep. I would love to tow my F150.

No power to my truck required when towing other than lights and brakes. I do have a dc to dc charger powered by our coach. The reason for this is for the lighting and brakes as power for those do come from the truck engine. I assume it would be he sane for the Jeep correct.

I do agree the Jeep is quicker if all you have to do is put it in neutral. It only takes about a minute to switch the F150 into tow mode though so it is not bad. I have always liked the Jeeps. I was looking at one when I replaced my other F150. They were a little to high for my wife to easily get in and out of.

I tow a 2021 F150 behind my American Dream. I use the NSA tow bar and it has a progressive (mechanical) braking system integrated in the tow bar. I researched the F150 battery problem and had so many conflicting answers I went with the NSA. I did put additional lights in my rear truck lenses per NSA instructions. When the running lights are on or brake applied, the power comes from the 7 pin to 6 pin plug attached to the truck not my battery. I have towed across country 3x with no problem. For extra "insurance" you can run a charge line from the you 6 pin plug on the truck to a 15 amp breaker then to your battery. They are $25 on line and very easy to hook up.
