Where are you located? I know someone in Florence Al.

We just had our floors completely re-done by Classic Coach Works in Ormond Beach FL. They did an excellent job! We had a luxury vinyl tile product that looks like tile installed throughout. I even had the entry stair well completely redone in the tile. It looks amazing compared to what we had before. The original off-white 15 year old carpet looked HORRIBLE!! And the cheap stick on wood floor product someone used looked just as bad. We kept the carpet on the drivers side front slide but upgraded to a very high end carpet that is guaranteed not to fade. We also had them rebuild the captains chairs with new closed cell foam and cover them in matching ultra leather. They can do just about anything you can imagine. Check them out at www.classiccoachworks.com

RELIABLE COMPANY TO REPLACE FLOORING IN CLASS A MOTORHOME WITH 3 SLIDES
I have no recommendations for you. However I can share my experiences with you.

I have used glue down tile, high end felt based vinyl, vinyl, pre-glued tile, and Purgo snap together engineered wood flooring

These are my issues with them all.
Glue down tile in heat will float and leave gaps as the tile separates with expansion and contraction.
vinyl will crack at the joints of the base plywood flooring in most all RVs.
Felt based vinyl will hold up well but the top surface is thin and easily damaged.
Pre-glued tile will never settle down and gaps appear in a matter of months.
Because the flooring of most RVs flex, Purgo snap flooring joints will come apart.

I searched for a good option. What I found is no matter who makes it the flooring will not be warrantied if in a non climate controlled environment. If you use the RV with changing temp guess what the manufacturer will say if you have problems that can be blamed on environment conditions? You got it.
I even looked into cork and it was not covered if not controlled enviroment.

My answer that has held up well for the last year in my fifth with 1/2inch marine ply floors? I got 3/16 hardwood plywood and cut it into 4" strips 4ft long and installed them as I would if I was using engineered wood flooring. What did I use for glue? I used tight bond III wood glue and kept the pieces in place with Pin nails while the glue dried.

It looks like hardwood flooring, It has become part of the plywood without the seam that destroys flooring as it flexes. only mentioned if you choose to put down tile latter you will have a good base 3/16 thicker than the original ply/particle board or whatever the base floor is made of. But I have only had complements on the floor. The varnished finished product is as durable as any wood floor would be and a fresh coat of varnish is all that is required to spruce it up.

Likely you will not find a flooring expert to install such a thing for you, but there are many competent people that could do the job for you. Flooring experts will talk about ware and how hard it would be to remove. Truth is you would not remove this to change flooring, you would just look at it as thicker ply base. However the sell would be for something else, totally avoiding manufacturers recommendations against using their products in environments that are not temperature controlled.

Just my $.04 worth

Kevin,
I wanted shiny ceramic tile with heated floors built in. Classic Coach Works would not do Ceramic Tile (like all the new high end coaches have) because he says his customers were not happy when it started to crack from the chassis flex as you have described. This is why we went with his recommendation of the luxury vinyl tile or planking if you wanted wood floor look. This stuff is HEAVY!! It's very thick and I doubt it will crack. Classic Coach Works has been using it for about 12 years now with excellent results. I'm sure a cheaper product would do exactly as you say. I'm also sure the quality of the product they used in our coach was the reason for the $8000 price tag (including the entry steps and walls). I guess only time will tell. But I fully expect the new flooring in my coach to last as long as I own it. I'll report back occasionally to let everyone know how it's holding up.

Hey EZ I was only giving info as to what I found, and what works for me. I figure that one should know to check the manufacturers warranty info before spending a bundle and be stuck with the job. I almost went with cork as I said. That would add sound deadening and a resilient surface that would feel warmer than any other hard flooring. It would have had to be imported and the shipping would have been close to the material costs.

I do hope the installer has had years to test the product you got and you will be happy for years to come.

Why so many Ernie?
