A renewal notice arrived in the mail today. As a member for four years not sure that I have ever use any of their services and wonder what I am paying for to be a member?

Thoughts?

I don't see the value in any of the clubs. If you attend their rallies, then that's a reason for membership. Otherwise join when you are buying tires, and save your money the remaining years.

Wife and I joined because of the benefit they have about getting your RV back home if necessary. My wife will not pull our trailer so someone would need to do it if I die or become incapacitated. Another place we checked on wanted $4500 for a lifetime membership for the same thing.

We get a discount on our Progressive Ins policy as members.

We joined FMCA to get the Tech+ Sprint plan. Since then we have added the roadside assistance too.

Several years ago we joined. If I recall correctly we were only members for a couple of years. That was when they were changing over to wanting all RVs to join instead of just Class A types. Anyway, we found that when we needed tires and told the shop we were going to use the FMCA discount they told us they would give us the same discount without using FMCA. It was something about the extra paperwork or something, can't recall. After that we decided the annual dues really wasn't worth it since no campgrounds were giving discounts for being FMCA members that we were using.

We've been members for 3 years now. I'm not sure I'll extend our membership. Like Joe said, there's not much we got out of it so far. The Sprint wi-fi hot spot for $50/mo. with unlimited data may be the only thing. I checked into their insurance deal and beat it locally. I'm almost sure I can beat their tire deal too. I've been to one of their rallies and to be honest the only thing we enjoyed was looking at the new models of the RV's. I don't think you have to be a member to go to a rally................

For me, FMCA yearly dues are sort of like giving to a charity. I don’t get much out of it but I kinda like helping keep the old rv organization afloat.
