Hi! Retiring at the end of this year and in preparation, I just bought a 2004 R-Vision Trail Lite 235S. First big trip after retirement is cross country using Route 66.

Welcome! So did you get a good 66 trail guide?

Thanks! I got the “Route 66 Adventure Handbook” by Drew Knowles. Seems pretty comprehensive although it isn’t specifically aimed at RV’ers. Most likely will look at some sort of RV Trip Planning app or site to complement the guidebook.

Actually seeing how granddad traversed the country really is an eye opener. Sometimes it can be white knuckles in a car, like it would be between Kingman and California border. I wouldn't start or end in Chicago.

Many landmarks are no longer available ?. Many roads are dead end. The guide made in Kingman comes with lists of such information and should be a must have.

Happy travels

Thanks! I’ll look for Kingman. Quite a bit is gone so it’s important for me to see what remains before it all is lost to history. I’m old enough to remember during the 60’s! Planned on avoiding downtown Chicago. Cheers!
