Our Ventana has two drawers in the midline Dash area. We have had a issue for some time where acceleration up a hill or taking a corner causes these drawers to fly open on their own. It's a very unwelcome distraction while driving. For a while we resorted to taping them shut with blue painters tape. But I finally decided to take the whole thing out an try an idea out.
I used some JB Plastic Weld to attach two magnets to the back of the drawers centered...and up against the lip of the drawer. After letting that cure...I put the drawers back into their drawer slides. Then placed a magnet on the back of the drawer cabinet to align and grab onto the magnetic field from the drawer magnets. Removed them one at a time and put some more JB Plastic Weld on those magnets and allowed them to be drawn again to the drawer magnets. Let that cure. Reinstalled the drawer assembly with the 4 #8-32 screws and gave it a test.
Very pleased. Easy to pull the drawer away...but it definetly holds well on it's own.
Finally, we can conserve on Blue Tape use.
