Has anyone had any positive, or negative, dealings with Harvest Host?

We looked into it, and it seems very positive, but is there a catch? Is there a down side?

We are members and enjoy it. when we plan a trip, we look to see if there ones that appeal to us along our route near our desired stop for the evening. If so, great. If not, no big deal. There are plenty times we spend more than if we went to a campground (over the suggested minimum), but we most likely had more fun than if we had stayed at a no frills overnight campground.

That's great to hear! We are really looking forward to getting out there and enjoying it

We’ve been members for years. No downside as far as I am concerned. It’s a super alternative to Walmarts, etc. for one night stopovers.

We are new members and have only used it a few times, but those have been great experiences. My wife and I plan on taking longer trips in the coming years and want to use HH for those 1 night-just want to get a good nights sleep and get going again stops. The thought of staying in a Walmart parking lot like does not appeal to us at all

HH is an integral part of our travel plans.

We used HH this past summer at several different locations. The only two downsides for us are that often the host is way off the beaten path, and some don't allow day-of reservations.

HH can be a wonderful option but buyer beware.
The real reason a business will host is they hope you will come in and make a purchase. While it's not mandatory it is pretty well suggested.
While we were members I don't know i we actually saved any money but we enjoyed it.
Some places are a bit off the beaten path in "the country" so due-diligence is in-order.
After a couple of years we decided we preferred plugging in to running the generator all night.
Turning off automatic renewals on HH website was a nightmare.

We have been members for almost 10 years and we love it. We use it when ever we can. We have stayed at Vineyards, Breweries, Distilleries, Museums, golf courses a couple farm/ Dairies and Meadery, to mention a few. We have also used the Boondockers welcome multiple times. We have had 2 bad experiences in all that time. One was a livestock farm the was really more of a stockyard that operated 24/7. Very nice people but a horrid place to stay. They had no issue when when cancelled out of our second night. I wrote Harvest Host and they were removed as a host.(guessing they had more than one repot) Also had a Winery in Old Town Sante Fe' New Mexico that just did not have any real parking for our rig and we opted not to stay. Truly not a bad record for as many of these as we have stayed at. Go for it and enjoy.

Does Wal🔆Mart still allow that? I read online awhile back that they had.. or were going to.. stop that, because it was attracting shady people....

Store by store decision.

There is a walmart about 5 miles from me that allows it. It's on the edge of town, somewhat rural.

There is another walmart about 10 miles south of that one, in a much more urban area, that does not allow overnight parking.

I know some Cracker Barrel allowed it. I dont know if they do anymore..
