We did not look at the entire line up of Newmar, for some reason we toured the Dutch Star, crunched numbers and decided that would be the coach to look for. The Dutch Star has heated floors under porcelain tiles which sounded like a wonderful attribute but I wondered how reliable they would be and in the event of failure, how big a deal it would be to replace or repair a bad element panel. This weekend while plugged in to the camp ground power I turned on all the floors on high to see just how comfortable the coach would be in 50 degree coastal temps. In the morning it was nce to step bare foot out of bed onto the heated floor but in walking about the coach we noticed several areas that were much cooler than the hottest of tiles. I know the slides are not heated but these are areas that seem to be randomly in-op. Is this common, by design or did I get a lemon right off the bat? GOing to call Newmar on Monday.
Thanks

If you have the rear cover in the bathroom, it is not heated. At least in my Essex. Is it random everywhere? If it’s in different zones, you may have a tripped GFI plug. Also, make sure that the individual zones are all turned on

My understanding is that there are specific zones so there would be cold spots, such as the slides as you mentioned, and the driver’s area floor, between the heated areas. But my understanding was that this has been improved over recent years.

I am going to use am infrared thermometer, map out the tiles and record temps throughout the three zones. I understood that the hatch in the rear bath was not heated but when the bathroom was on high, the hatch was warm. I had a towel over the hatch but I had not had the engine running recently. Ill post results.

I believe starting in 2021 engine cover is heated. How do I know? I have a 2020 and they made the change the very next year☹️

On the newer DS's I believe the slides are also heated. It's a must option for us now.

we just bought a 2023 4081, northern IL, haven't been able to explore the floor heating yet, very excited though, glad i found this forum, I'm sure i will have many questions, last 25 years in 5th wheels, happy to make the plunge

You will like the heated floors as long as you don't expect to heat the coach with them. We are finding that they take the chill off the tile floor and do augment the other heating systems. We are really enjoying getting to know our 2022 4081 taking her out for the third weekend in a row this weekend. So far we have had only one issue with a galley sink drain hose leak that was an easy fix. All other systems seem to work as advertised.

It all depends on how cold the outside temperature gets, we have been very comfortable with the heated floors on high with outside temperatures in the 50’s
