My wife and I are in our 60s and have a large and small dog. We have a solid tow vehicle for either of these smaller campers no issue. We have tow experience with bumper pull horse trailers my wife has ridden most of her life. I am handy but not a mechanic.

As I near retirement we are looking at a small camper for 3 or 4 day trips up into NY (my favorite - it is lovely up there) and around PA, WV, MD, and NJ. Public campsites with hookups we don't see boondocking for us but you never know. We plan to take our two dogs and the two of us. Grandkids have better things to do.

We think we have found two good choices for our needs. A North South Queen is a must for my wife.

1.> 2022 Jayco STX 7 195 JayFlight - We spent two days looking at new trailers at the Hershey RV show. We really liked the Jayco Company reps - they were super helpful even though we were thinking of used. There is a 2022 Jayco that was use for 1 trip and then stored indoors. So this is basically a new trailer - in my opinion. It has the NS queen bed (with great storage underneath) which is the one must have for my wife. It is stick and tin with 5/8" plywood floors - but does have the STX package so the nicer rims, "off road tires", the roof ac etc. The appliances are entry level and there is current no TV (put I would assume we could install that ourselves). We like the trailer a lot and the fact the original owners are selling it and so we know it's full story. I guess this would be considered a COVID trailer so that probably does not improve quality of the build. It is leaf spring single axle. For an entry level trailer we think it checks all our boxes.

2.> 2020 Rockwood GeoPro 19FS - This is at a dealer with a great rep and they have been super helpful. It was a trade in on a larger camper. The thing is in excellent shape - minimal wear and tear. Not new condition but excellent used condition - it was taken care of. This has an oven which the STX does not and they are of "higher" quality. The kitchen sink is bigger. It also has a bathroom sink which the STX does not. Also the shower walls are lined with plastic - which oddly the STX are not. (I would probably put up FRP or something for shower walls which overlap the pan if we buy the STX. Later model years came that way from the factory. Guessing that was a leak area which they corrected in later years.) It has the single torsion axle which I know about from our horse trailer experience. It is the Azdel laminated walls and ceiling with 5/8 plywood floors. I believe this trailer is closer to a Jay Feather in construction than the Jay Flight. It has a slightly less wide NS Murphey bed - we prefer the full-time bed in the STX but you do get a couch with the Murphy Bed. Just about 2' shorter but 8" wider than the STX. It has more and bigger windows and they are frameless too which supposed to be an improvement. The tires are 2018 so I will replace ASAP especially on a single axle.

We really like both these trailers and cannot decide. After we do this for a couple years, we may want something bigger or smaller or with a rear dinette. Hence why buying used. Weight is not an issue our horse trailer with one horse loaded weighs more than either. I should be able to back these under cover for storage.

We like both - I like the look of the Jayco and the fulltime bed. The GeoPro has more and better appliances and better bath, however, it is two years older (but pre covid) and was likely used somewhat more. I would appreciate any inside or advice on these. Anyone with experience please jump in positive or negative experience.

The Rockwood sounds overall better to me.

We bought our 2018 trailer (well-) used in 2022 and really haven't had any major issues with it.
