I wonder when all this is said and done how it will affect the RV'ers. We all know what Marcus Lemonis said a few years ago. That hurt Good Sam and his own Camping World. Now he wants the truth of his methods shut down and being he is one the darlings of CNBC he will have support. from a certain crowd of investment firms and such. I'm sure. Now he is suing Gigi Stetler from RVACA for speaking out and allowing others to speak out about how CW and GS do business exposing the rip offs and sales practices. I have a feeling with all the new RV owners out there she is going to get a lot of support before it all settles.

I'm not one of his fans for sure, but I'd hate to see Camping World take a hit on this and it cause folks working there to lose jobs. Maybe they can just get rid of him. LOL. Truly though how it all settles in or out of court might affect the industry a lot or none at all. After all it's all about the dishonest sales practices and poor quality of product and nobody speaking out for the consumer enough to help things become better.
She is trying to help consumers and he is trying to shut her group up to continue the same old same old with no or little to no consumer protections. It hits Lemonis right where it hurts most ( honesty ) . Thus a law suet against a non profit small organization.

HMMM?

I agree with her. I hate their deceptive sales practices and I hate their way of doing business. I DO NOT shop there. Seems to me that if a large portion of RVers felt the same way that I do they would be better off changing their ways or face the consequences financially.

I personally have shoppped at Camping World for a just a year and a half now, and I’ve yet to have a bad experience. But I’ve always been wary and on my guard when venturing into one because of what I’ve read on forums like this.

That said, I would never buy an RV from them. Not because I know anything about their business practices when it comes to selling RVs but purely because I think that it’s hard to be good at both running a large retail store chain and selling RVs. It’s Mars and Venus and it’s difficult if not impossibly to do both well. Most RV dealers might have a small retail store with some bare essentials, but their bread and butter is sales and service.
By contrast, there are many camping stores that have a whopping inventory of zero because they recognize couldn’t possibly sell an RV in an appropriate manner with the same staff and atmosphere.

Camping World it seems to me, is trying to do too much. If I were CEO for a day, I’d probably spin the RV sales to ff to a completely separate enterprise, with different, dedicated retail locations from the Camping World store.

as foe retail, yes Camping World’s prices are often ludicrous but I don’t know of any larger chain that is more often within an hour of my location that has what I need when I need it.

maybe I am doing something wrong

Most of my RV stuff I get online, or at a dealership. There are many well run businesses out there.

e-trailers, Rvupgrade store , even Amazon or the individual manufacturers. I stopped doing business with CW a while ago. I, personally never had a problem, but would definitely not buy an RV from them and certainly would not want them working on my rig. My thought is this guy has a huge overinflated ego, going on TV telling others how to run a business, when his has such a horrible reputation.

In Yuma two stores fill the needs of the RVer, ok three hilco RV super store and wally's world. They do such a good job I don't think cw could make inroads

I do use etrailer as much as possible. They’re fantastic imo. Sometimes you need that thing that same day though and you can’t wait for etrailer or Amazon to ship, whether because of poor planning or life just happening. I’m grateful that there is usually a CW within an hours drive that 9/10 times, has that water pump, those tow pins, that rhino tank, the water filter, sewer adapter, whatever unique RV part it may be that you need and don’t have. Yeah, they’re gonna make you pay through the nose for it but when I need it, it’s worth that much to me.

While I wouldn’t buy from them, I have let them touch my rig to install the AF1. I wouldn’t walk in there for any service too in depth though.

Big fan of etrailer.com

Not a fan at all of CW. Been in one twice in the last 5 years when I had to have something right then.

Look I get cw I don't use them but I get those that do. When I buy something I want to buy once and some need to see and feel, I already know what I am looking for, others don't.

But that doesn't stop me from going there to watch others, the way I did at the public dock in Newport Beach. It is entertaining!

Precisely my point. CW is at least for me, an occasional only player if I need/want something in my hands now. They have no real competitors in their space that I am aware of, aside from Amazon which is a competitor to anyone and everyone that sells anything. But CW has a sizable retail store network specifically targeted for RVs.

i just think they should focus on that, maybe service as well and completely forget RV sales.

I’m not a fan of the CEO but the man is running a business and I certainly don’t judge him for what I might see on that TV show where he supposedly turns around a struggling business. A lot of that is Hollywood BS and every large, multi-million dollar business is going to have struggles and weak areas.
