Thanks for the reply. I have been in contact with the Newmar Baystar rep, and they do have a repair. He has sent me the fix but I will leave it up to the service guys when I take the MH in in the spring. Have a good one. This is a historical issue with BS and CS rigs, our 2019 was hard as well. always felt like cable was one pull away from snapping.
I'd be very interested in seeing the Newmar Fix.I have been in contact with the Newmar Baystar rep, and they do have a repair. He has sent me the fix but I will leave it up to the service guys when I take the MH in in the spring. Have a good one.

I tried everything, it would open but if someone was not outside to hold it, it would relatch in the safety latch position. Seems to work good now though, lets hope it lasts.I found a simple solution. Don't pull continuously. Simple give it one hard short yank. Voila. Opens easy.
What exactly was the fix?Hey all, got the hood latch on the Baystar fixed up, it works so much better now. The dealership did the mod, Newmar supplied the instructions and some new parts.
Hi, same problem, except my cable never came out. Found out it is common on some Newmar's. Got ahold of Steve at Newmar and he sent me instructions and pictures on how it would look when fixed. The guys a Bucars did the repair, free, and it has worked like a real hood release since. Enjoy the rest of the summer.2022 Bay Star 3014. I had the same problem, could'nt pull and release the cable with two hands!. I'm a pretty strong woman but this was ridiculous. Then on my last try the cable came out and ended on the drivers seat with me!. Luckily I was taking the coach to a local rv tech, in Idaho Falls. He was great and fixed to issue. He adjusted the cable connections and spring and now its as it should be, easy one hand release. I'm so happy. He said however installed it didn't make any adjustments in the slack.
