I dont know about your system, but the general answer is no, although you may need your key on. Typically having the key in the accessory position would be sufficient. What system do you have?

Not sure what system. The lever has auto and manual modes. It is a 2007 fleetwood bounder 38n if that helps which is a frieghtliner chassis. Thanks

You could post a pic of your control panel to help ID the system. Either way, if you are just dumping air, then leveling hydraulically, you dont need fhe engine running. If you are leveling with air AND the system doesn't have its own compressor, then yes you would probably need the engine running to air up as necessary to level. But it sounds like you are just lowering the coach by dumping the air in the bags to get the most out of your hydraulic jacks.

Thanks Jim. My MH is at the dealer so can’t get a picture. My leveling system is hydraulic/electric not air so I just want the suspension lowered before leveling. So motor off makes sense. Thanks again for your help !
Phil
